Nikolaus Poechhacker and Katharina König will present their research findings from the project REASON at the joint Sociology Congress by the DGS (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Soziologie) and ÖGS (Österreichische Gesellschaft für Soziologie) on 24 August 2021.
Post-Corona Society? Pandemic, Crisis and the Consequences
The congress, titled ‘Post-Corona Society? Pandemic, Crisis and the Consequences’ focuses on questions such as: How is it possible that an aggressive, flu-like virus manages to do what this world has so far been unable to do? Pausing, reflecting and questioning basic routines?
The congress in Vienna/online wants to take up and deepen this productive impulse of the coronavirus. In a series of plenary events, ad hoc groups and section events, the rational sociological content of the socially diagnostic thesis of a post-corona society will be put up for discussion.
The talk by Nikolaus Poechhacker and Katharina Koenig is titled ‘A crisis of expertise? An institutional perspective on scientific expert panels during the Corona crisis’ and draws on results from the project REASON – Legal Requirements for statistical modelling.
